There was a time when I would have begged everyone to help make my hair grow and believe me I would have tried anything If I thought It was gonna add even just a few inches. This was all because when I was 17 I absolutely ruined it by relaxing my hair ( which I will always tell you to AVOID AVOID AVOID ) I wanted to make it as straight as possible yet all it did was ruin my hair, burn my scalp, make it real thin and in the end it left me with a weird shaped mullet which I had for years as my hair just gave up right at the top back of my head. Because my hair Is curly I could get away with it most of the time and when taking pictures I was very aware of the angle for instance, If you took a profile shot of me you’d blatantly see I had less hair at the back of my head which didn’t even touch the back of my shoulders it and the top of my head had really short curls that would stick up however from the front it was so much longer and went past my shoulders.

Now as I said a few months back I was gonna stick to using just Aveda products on my hair especially their DAMAGE REMEDY range as my hair was quite honestly in bad condition. I swear to you right now I really do believe their SPLIT END REMEDY works!! I have lost a lot of hair because of split ends and it’s been the main reason I had to get my hair treated and cut … I was In split end hell ( If there is such a thing) however my hair now seems to have really changed and obviously grown quite a bit in three months. My hair has grown past the usual break off point which I was so surprised about.

Now I’m sure I’ve said this a few times before as well but I never thought somewhere like Aveda would be able to deal with my kinda hair as I’ve had hairdressers mess up my hair loads of time ( especially that time when a woman tried to brush my hair dry with a hard brush when it was curly I actually had tears in my eyes coz it hurt that much! Why I didn’t just stop her there and then I don’t know I let it carry on for about 5 minutes before I gave in and said look just wet and condition my hair otherwise you’re gonna rake it all out!! )

Michela ( who works at the Holborn salon ) Is frigging awesome she tried out a new way to cut my hair, normally you do it when it’s wet right ? Well we dried my hair first and then got the scissors out! Shaping it dry was a first and I love love love it! Blatantly channelling a 70’s disco vibe with my new fro!

I was trying to find you a picture of what happened when I dyed my own last about two years ago trying to go as blonde as Rita Ora … It was a total disaster and I ended up ‘canary yellow’ with three other shades of orange, So it’s probably a great thing I now say NEVER DYE YOUR OWN HAIR! ha Just save up and treat yourself as It actually saves you money in the future as you don’t have to waste money correcting the mistakes you made!I don’t know If you can tell by the photos I’ve taken but I’ve gone a few shades lighter with my highlights too and James ( my colourist ) Said that he’d noticed a real change in the quality and texture of my hair, so even tho I’m now cutting my hair short it’s actually growing faster than it’s ever done because of how and what I’m putting on my hair! I think we all know the lesson here, find the products that work for you and stick to them don’t muddle your hair with loads of different stuff and expect it to be healthy. If you haven’t tried Aveda yet give their products a go and let me know how you get on.
